Primary sailing clubs in England were Queen Mary S. C and Hayling Island S.C.

Principal sailing club in New Zealand is Evans Bay Yacht and Motor Boat Boat Club

Main classes raced to national or international level have been the 470, Contender and Cherub. (We bought the Bethwaite Cherub wing mast which still exists.)

The following classes have been raced off and on; Laser II, Flying Fifteen, International Canoe, Thames Rater, Enterprise, Mirror, Fireball, 505, Tornado, Cadet,

Numerous open meetings around the UK racing in a wide range of conditions from impossibly shifty rivers and gravel pits to coastal with extreme tides (15 meter rise).

We became the UK Vanguard 470 and 420 rep in 1983/84 until the exchange rate made the venture unprofitable. I visited Harken Wisconsin learning much about international 470 construction and manufacturing.

This makes it the fourth Olympic campaign I've been involved in and with the 2012 games in London/Weymouth, my home towns so to speak, so success for those I can help is quite important for me.

Putting some life into a 20 year old 470 and rediscovered a Fanatic course racing windsurfer so my son and his friends can enjoy it. Oh and me of course.
