Principal sailing club in New Zealand is Evans Bay Yacht and Motor Boat Boat Club
Main classes raced to national or international level have been the 470, Contender and Cherub. (We bought the Bethwaite Cherub wing mast which still exists.)
The following classes have been raced off and on; Laser II, Flying Fifteen, International Canoe, Thames Rater, Enterprise, Mirror, Fireball, 505, Tornado, Cadet,
Numerous open meetings around the UK racing in a wide range of conditions from impossibly shifty rivers and gravel pits to coastal with extreme tides (15 meter rise).
We became the UK Vanguard 470 and 420 rep in 1983/84 until the exchange rate made the venture unprofitable. I visited Harken Wisconsin learning much about international 470 construction and manufacturing.

Assisting my brother's in their 470 campaign, including events at the 1981 or 1982 470 worlds (can't remember which) in La Rochelle. Regattas at Cannes, St Tropez, St Maxime, Medemblik.

Heavily involved with Evans Bay Development Squad from 1994 in Laser II's and 470's.
Helped in coaching for Simon Manning/Andy Robertson's Tornado 1996 Savannah. This included an extremely valuable weekend session with Mitch Booth and Mike Fletcher.
Weekend session with Victor Kovalenko when he attended the 470 Nationals in Wellington some years back.
Jason Geale's Laser campaign when he was in Wellington.

Background includes research scientist for the Ministry of Defence UK (years ago but still applicable), 10 years teaching art and design students from all vocations.

Currently helping with Cushla Hume Merry's Laser Radial campaign for 2012 in association with the Academy of Sport, Wellington. This makes it the fourth Olympic campaign I've been involved in and with the 2012 games in London/Weymouth, my home towns so to speak, so success for those I can help is quite important for me.
Putting some life into a 20 year old 470 and rediscovered a Fanatic course racing windsurfer so my son and his friends can enjoy it. Oh and me of course.
